GYP-LOCK  - Produces Hardened, Durable, Dust Free Gypsum

buildingGyp-Lock was specifically engineered to work with the special chemical properties of Gypsum based cements.  Gyp-Lock penetrates the gypsum to harden and strengthen the top wear layer.  This chemical reaction will produce a hard, dust free, abrasion resistant surface that adhesive glues easily bond to.

Hardens Gysum
Gypsum underlayments are typically brittle can be easily damaged.  This produces dusting problems and damage to the floor.

No Surface Membrane
Gyp-Lock seals and strengthens, yet does not create a surface membrane that would interfere with the bonding of adhesives.  This is vitally important, to the flooring industry who require a dust-free substrate for proper bonding of their adhesives.  Latex sealers will typically create a surface membrane that will interfere with the bond between the substrate and the flooring.

Abrasion Resistant and Dust Free Floors
Typically, if gypsum is not treated, the adhesive glues used in flooring industry will ball up on application.  This is cumbersome and time consuming.  With Gyplock adhesives will go on smoothly and will not ball up.

apartmentThe History
Gypsum has been used in new construction floor underlayments for many years, mainly because it is economical, creates a sound barrier for apartments and condominiums, is fireproof, and most importantly has been effectively marketed throughout the construction industry.  It is also widely known that the flooring industry in general are not happy with the performance of some gypsum floor underlayments.

Any number of forums on the internet will show you first hand the problems floor installers are having and what they think.  When there is not a solid bond between the glue and the floor due to dusting, delamination of the flooring can occur.  In fact, it is not uncommon to rip up perfectly good flooring after 2 years of use because of delamination problems.

GYP-LOCK - The most sought after solution

girl Gyp-Lock Sealer was engineered and designed to work exclusively with the special chemical properties of Gypsum based cements.

Gyp-Lock penetrates the gypsum and strengthens the top wear layer producing a hard, dust free and abrasion resistant surface that adhesive glues easily bond to.

Gyp-Lock seals and strengthens, yet does not create a surface membrane that would interfere with bonding of glues.
The benefits of Gyp-Lock are vitally important in the initial phase of floor installations, as well as years later after much wear and tear on the floor.  High traffic areas are affected by abrasion and abrasion causes irreparable damage to the soft gypsum below if not sealed properly with Gyplock.  Literally Gypsum can turn to dust from years of foot traffic and this will subsequently causes major de-lamination problems for the flooring.
Typical Job Site Scenerio
Typically, the Gypsum is poured and allowed to dry, then the plumbers, electricians, drywallers, painters, and numerous other trades people come in and do their work over a period of days and weeks.  They walk around and haul their equipment over the Gypsum, scratching and damaging the surface.

As you know, Gypsum is very brittle and has very poor abrasion resistance, and any scratches or faults in the Gypsum will create dusting problems. The flooring guy comes back in (he's next to the last of the tradespeople to work on the project) and has to put a floor on top of the badly dusted, scratched and damaged Gypsum floor.  It's enough to give anyone nightmares.

The only solution previously being offered in the industry is to put a latex or acrylic on the gypsum.  These products however, will leave a surface membrane, which interferes with the proper adhesion of glue down floor coverings, and can cause major delamination problems.

football catchUntil now there has been no satisfactory solution for the flooring industry.  Literally gypsum can turn to dust from years of foot traffic and this will subsequently causes major delamination problems for the flooring.

Gypsum floor underlayments must be sealed for the proper bonding of the glues.  Because Gyplock is membrane free, and stops dusting, it is highly recommended throughout the flooring industry.

Gyplock is quickly becoming the most sought after solution in the marketplace for treating gypsum floors.
